Emily an orphan as a baby at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya, but she went on in adulthood to live in the wild. Without any provocation, Emily returned to the Wildlife Trust to give birth among the Keepers who had been been with her for her formative years.

The Keepers were amazed by Emily’s decision to to return “home” to give birth, something so rarely witnessed by humans. Emily knew that the Keepers would keep her and baby safe from predators. Moments after giving birth, the joyful herd of elephants gather around her, eager to help get baby Emma to her feet. Working together and using their trunks, they carefully lift her.
